Being an adult and make new friendships are hard, especially with everything I carry around.<<

For me it comes down to statistics. I have many traits that are rare, so I have little in common with most people. That means within the local population, it is unlikely for me to find a match of interests or tolerances. But online, I can cross paths with millions of other people. Even things that are rare tend to be findable. So while I don't have local friends who are interested in quantum mechanics, my online audience enjoys when I post news about that. And so on.

Yeah, me too. I greatly enjoy the company of plants and animals.

It'd be nice if I had more opportunities for facetime meeting with like-minded people, but the places and events where I used to get that don't exist anymore, or have changed so they no longer meet that need well. I grew up without them, though, so the lack is mildly sad but I have other options to occupy myself.
