What money can buy
May. 22nd, 2025 07:59 pmSo, I wrote a whole damn post this morning, and as I wrote the very last word - the power went out. And when I turned my PC on again, Dreamwidth autosaved a blank page. Great.
Oh well. It was about having anxiety all night, because I had to go to the doctor's office for the paperwork to get my driver's license renewed. Way to early and they promised very bad weather, and I had to go on my motor scooter, and I really hate that thing. But the weather wasn't that bad. It sucked anyway, but I lived.
Now I have to wait until Monday, where I can go to the municipal office and get the rest done. I'll get a temporary license and I'll be driving to dog training Tuesdag 8) I'm actually looking forward to it. It's apparently dawning on my anxiety driving our new car isn't that bad, and I really just want to be more independent. I'd love to drive my self around, even though I don't have access to a car when hubby is at work.
I did a thing. A ... bad thing.
I really don't have any money. I'm on early retirement benefit, which I'm very grateful for, but it's just a bit too little. You can survive but not really live. I'm lucky Hubby makes some money, but he's uneducated and doesn't get that much for his work in production. It's enough, we have what we need but not really any more. We don't have money for emergencies. We have somehow always made it anyway.
Well, I finally have had the chance to save some money. Not much.
And I just bought a Steam Deck instead of saving them 🫣 It's second hand but in a nice condition (almost not used) and with some extra stuff.
I've been talking about buying a hand-held console for some time. I really just wanna sit in the couch and be cozy, but I'm not really into the PS4 we have.
I was thinking of buying a Switch now the new one comes out. The old ones must become pretty cheap second hand. But I'm not really into Nintendo. I just want to play my games on Steam. I love indie games!
And then I remembered Steam had one of their own. Aaand there was one nearby on FB Marketplace. Woops.
Well. I haven't bought it yet, we're going to get it Sunday. I'm looking forward to it!
(Everything is btw very expensive when it comes to electronics compared to the States, we have a lot of tariffs. Same for cars and so on)
Sigh.
I wish I was better at saving money, but at least I never use what I don't have.
And I don't have any big plans, except for new glasses, but they will be payed in instalments anyway, glasses are friggin' expensive!
And I really want our big terrarium filled, but no rush. It's been standing there, empty, for 2½ year anyway.
Oh well.
Time for relaxation. I don't have any plans for tomorrow, and I'm really looking forward to visit my friend on Saturday! I could use a couple of hours just talking about all and nothing.
Coromon, here I come!
